How Herding Cats came to be...

Herding Cats was not formed in the formal sense. There was absolutely no preconceived idea to put this band together. No one guy sayin' Hey, I'm gonna start a band or Hey, let's learn some songs and start playing gigs. True to this bands nature it fell together out of sheer chaos and pandemonium. Larry had been playing in a duo in Kirkland when he was approached about playing a Sunday night gig at the Kirkland Avenue Pub. It seemed the Pub was going to try having music and wanted to know if he was interested in being the first group (guinea pig). Given he that loved playing (plus he was broke) he readily agreed. But his partner at the time didn't want to play on a Sunday night so Larry asked his best friend Mike if he would be interested in doing the gig with him. Mike agreed and all seemed good to go.

However a few days before the gig the Pub decided that it didn't want a duo and that if Mike and Larry were to play they would have to get a drummer. (You're starting to see where the name came from) So in a mad scramble Larry called another friend, Jon, and asked him if would do the gig with them. Jon, being the cool guy he is, said why not? So without any rehearsal or preparation what so ever they got together and did the gig. It was at that first gig that Mike, Jon and Larry all realized that this band was so much fun that they should continue playing together as a group, which they have done. There you have it.
